The Protestant Church District Berlin Stadtmitte is seeking an experienced and visionary Protestant pastor to join the groundbreaking House of One project—a unique interfaith initiative bringing together a church, a synagogue, and a mosque under one roof in Berlin’s historic city center.

About the House of One Currently in development, the House of One will open in the next four to five years as an innovative sacred space. Each faith will have its own worship area, connected by a central domed hall designed for encounters, dialogue, and shared activities with people of other religions and worldviews.

For nearly 15 years, the House of One Foundation has been building not only the structure itself, but also a living model of interreligious cooperation. The project brings faith into the public sphere—right into the heart of society, public debate, and Germany’s cultural heritage.

The Role We are looking for a pastor who will:

• Live out and represent the Christian Protestant faith with openness and warmth toward people of other religions.
• Provide spiritual and theological leadership for the House of One, alongside colleagues from Judaism and Islam.
• Contribute to worship planning, program design, and collaborative projects across faith traditions.
• Represent the Christian churches in public, in the media, and on social media.

Qualifications

• Ordained Protestant pastor with significant ministry experience.
• Theological depth and the ability to communicate faith across cultures.
• Experience working with people of other religions, worldviews, or in interfaith contexts (preferred).
• Strong public communication skills and media competence.
• A collaborative, team-oriented spirit with courage, creativity, and resilience.

Working Environment You will be part of a leadership team that includes Rabbi Dr. Andreas Nachama and Imam Kadir Sanci, working closely to coordinate the House of One’s interfaith activities. You will also collaborate with the pastoral team at St. Mary’s–Friedrichswerder parish, the church district, and the regional church.

The role is full-time (100%) for a six-year term. No church housing is provided, but the district will assist in your housing search.
